My love for music comes from my father. One of the earliest memories I cherish was when my father played his ‘Tabla’ late in the evening, leaving me completely in awe. He introduced me to the ‘Tabla’ and the ‘Keyboard’. Thus, began my search for symphony.
After I learned the ‘Tabla’ and the ‘Keyboard’, my interest switched to ‘Guitar’. Many people think that learning three instruments you know a lot about music. True, but then I believe that one could never completely attain the enormity that is Music.
During my graduation, I met four guys who had similar taste and the same passion for music as me. Our unconditional love for Indian classical music and heavy metal motivated us to create ‘TANDAV’, a metal band infusing the two genres we love.
The inception of ‘TANDAV’ led to many opportunities. We showcased our talent in many competitions like INFINITY of Ness Wadia College Pune, Ashwamedh of AISSMS College Pune where we proved our metal (no pun intended) by achieving first place, participated at Battle of Bands of VIT Pune, Searock 2013 - and many more. This exposure opened many doors for us leading to the world of professional music. My first recording session completely changed my outlook towards music. Amongst the many lessons that these sessions provided me with were confidence and self – belief; to enjoy music to its fullest.
To many, being in a band – a metal one at that is an excuse for getting tattoos, letting your hair down and dropping out of college. Contrary to popular belief, ‘TANDAV’ has made me smarter, taught me many life skills, given me an insight into the business of art and still keeps inspiring me to achieve greater things.
