FYBA

Students have a wide range of subjects to choose from at the undergraduate level. The B.A. degree course consists of three years Viz. F.Y. B.A., S.Y.B.A. and T.Y.B.A. The University of Pune awards the Degrees to the students.

Rules regarding choice of subjects

  1. Students can offer not more than one subject from one group.
  2. The subject in Group 'A' is compulsory.
  3. Student have to offer at least one language (second language) from Group 'B' or Group 'C' or Group 'J'.
  4. In addition to a second language a student mav offer one more language from Group 'B' or Group 'C', but subject to (1) above.
  5. A student may offer Optional English from Group 'J' alone or in combination with one language from either Group 'B' or Group 'C'. A student shall not offer, under any circumstances, more than two languages from Group 'B' or Group 'C' or Group 'J' taken together.
  6. A student desiring to offer Statistics (special) in S.Y.B.A. must offer Mathematical Statistics from Group 'J' and Statistics from Group 'L'.
  7. A student not desiring to specialize in Statistics is advised not to offer only Statistics from Group 'L'. Instead he/she is advised to offer Applied Statistics from Group 'L'.
  8. A student desiring to offer English (special) at S.Y.B.A. must offer Optional English from Group 'J'.

Note: The students are advised to make a studied choice of subjects. They may consult the staff - members on admission duty.

Note: Physical Training (PT) is compulsory for First Year Students. Students will have to strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the PT Department of the College Gymkhana.

S.Y.B.A.

Rules regarding choice of subjects.:

A student studying for the S.Y.B.A. (special) shall study six papers as follows:
  1. Compulsory English
  2. 3) & 4) One paper each at General level of the three subjects chosen out of the five subjects offered in the F.Y.B.A.
  3. 5) & 6) Two papers at Special level of one subject chosen as a Special subject out of the three subjects at General Level.


NB:
  1. The following subject-groups are available at Fergusson College, for S.Y.B.A. Students have to opt for only one subject from any given group, subject to 2-6 above.
  2. Students offering Sociology cannot take Logic and vice versa.
  3. Students who had not opted for Optional English in the F.Y.B.A. will not be allowed to opt for English at Special level at S.Y.B.A.

Rules regading choice of subjects:

A student studying for the T.Y.B.A. (special) shall study six papers as follows:
  1. Compulsory English
  2. 3) & 4) One paper each at General level of the three subjects offered in the S.Y.B.A.
  3. & 6) Two papers at Special level of the subject chosen as a Special subject in the S.Y.B.A..


Note : Physical Training (P.T.) is compulsory for the first year students. Those who join N.C.C/.Sports are exempt from P.T.
