Inauguration of Pune Book Festival

The Pune Book Festival 2024 was inaugurated on 14th December at the iconic Fergusson College (Autonomous), Pune, amidst an atmosphere of excitement and cultural pride. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, who performed the inauguration with great enthusiasm.
Shri Fadnavis shared his thoughts on the festival, saying, “Books open doors to new worlds, and Pune, with its rich intellectual heritage, continues to inspire. This year’s Pune Book Festival is truly memorable, and I look forward to being part of it again next year.”
Reflecting on India’s legacy, he remarked that as the oldest and one of the richest civilizations in the world, India has always revered knowledge, treating books as sacred treasures. He highlighted the energy and passion of the youth at the festival, expressing confidence that books will continue to thrive, even in the digital age.
Stressing the importance of cultivating a reading culture, Shri Fadnavis added, “To keep society creative, thoughtful, and value-driven, nurturing a love for reading is more important than ever.”
